Spotlight: Into the mind of our very own Sound Designer, Lars Söderberg

Here at Nolimit City, we do things differently. Sound design and background music are often overlooked as an afterthought - at Nolimit City though, we’re aiming for the grammies. We don’t just add any old generic stock music, we pour our heart and soul into every game with a great passion, elevating the entire gaming experience for the players.

For #WorldMusicDay, we’re handing the mic to our very own music producer, Lars Söderberg!

Meet Lars. He is our newest addition to our talented team of sound designers. He’s recently produced some fantastic soundtracks, including the eerie-sounding Remember Gulag and the headbanging-inducing scores of Folsom Prison, and has years of experience in making the very best slot game music there is. Outside of work, he’s a renowned producer and has worked with a multitude of artists and musicians. Speaking of musicians, Lars also plays the bass, guitar, and drums - and it rocks, if we may say so ourselves.

Lars- Tell us a bit about yourself;
Yo! I’m Lars and I’m a music guy that’s been in the slot business since 2018, and I started working at Nolimit in January of 2022.

I’ve been playing a lot of instruments and writing songs since I was a kid. In my 20s I toured a lot with different bands all over Europe and when I got sick of that lifestyle I started producing/mixing/mastering music. Music is my life and I am blessed to call it my job.

Music aside; I have a lovely wife and two beautiful daughters and I love binge-watching series.

What’s the secret to making a great soundtrack?
I don’t think there are any secrets regarding creating music. I don’t have an off switch when it comes to creativity and I’ve never experienced writer’s block. I just do my stuff and always try to bring something new to the table because I get bored if it’s just vanilla.

Any particular musical influences?
I would say any music that strikes a nerve is a musical influence. I listen to everything from death metal to jazz and film scores. My all-time favorite song is “Wichita Lineman” by Glen Campbell. That baritone solo is legendary.



Favourite soundtrack or song so far (on NLC games)?
I think all of our games rule on all levels. That’s what we do at NLC.
